Christmas Break Prac.

Please check with your coach to see if you have practice during Christmas Break. Have a fun and safe holiday! See you Jan. 10th.

*If you have too many non-dresses you will receive an "F" in Cheer PE. This will affect your eligibility. Be prepared. When you return in Jan, I will let you know who is eligible and who isn't.

Parade Practice

If you want to be in the Fresno Christmas Parade, there is mandatory practice on Thursday, December 2nd from 4:30-6:00 pm. If you have questions, talk to Coach Arora or Coach Jessica.

Upcoming Season

Football season is over! Now it's time for basketball season :) You will start learning basketball cheers during PE. If you aren't in PE, you need to get with someone to learn all the cheers. I will pass out a basketball season schedule within the next week. You will cheer all home boys' & girls' games. Each squad will cheer for their own team: Frosh for Frosh, JV for JV, and Varsity for Varsity. On the calendar it will show what you wear on gamedays. You will wear your uniform to the actual games. All games are inside so you don't need your bodyliners. Varsity needs to bring their poms to ALL games. The Winter Rally is right after Christmas Break, so be prepared to start working on those routines. Even though there are no games right now, those on probation must still turn in progress reports each Friday. See me if you have any questions.

If You Are on Probation!!!!

ONCE AGAIN-IF YOU ARE ON PROBATION, YOU MUST PICK UP A PROGRESS REPORT ON MONDAY AM FROM MRS. CHAMPION AND GET IT FILLED OUT BEFORE GAME DAY. IT IS DUE THE BY LUNCH ON GAME DAY OR YOU WILL NOT CHEER THAT NIGHT.

Volleyball Game-Nov 2nd

All teams must cheer at Tuesday's volleyball game. Frosh cheers at 4:15, JV at 5:15 and Varsity at 6:30. Wear your uniform (no bodyliner). Var bring poms and hair is either all up or half up/half down...all wear their game day bow.

Pig Breakfast--Who Will it Be!?!?

We will announce who gets to attend the Fresno High/Roosevelt High Pig Breakfast next Wednesday, November 3rd during lunch. All cheerleaders need to attend this quick meeting. 3 cheerleaders will be selected. The breakfast is the kickoff activity for Pig Week. It's Monday, November 8th at El Torito from 7:30-8:30 am. This is a fun tradition!!!

FOR SALE

The following sweatshirts will be for sale as of next week. Anyone can purchase one: staff, friends, students, non-cheerleaders, siblings, parents, alumni, etc. Please spread the word to everyone you know. I'm going to create a flier soon. Each sweatshirt is $40 or $55 if you want it rhinestoned. There are no variations. They must be one of these designs. They are available from a small-2XL. Any sweatshirt can be hooded or crewneck (no hood). The due date for the 1st round of ordering and money is Monday, November 8th.

Game Change

On Friday, November 5th there is a game @McLane. A bus will be provided for all teams. You must ride the bus to and from the game. The bus will leave in front of the school at 4 pm.

Weekly Progress Reports Starting Monday

As of Monday, October 25th any cheerleader who is on probation must turn in a weekly progress report. It is your responsibility to pick up the progress report from Mrs. CHampion each Monday am and return it filled out by game day. If the game is on Thursday, progress reports are due Thursday. This is mandatory or else you will not cheer for that game. If there is no game that week, you still must turn one in on Friday by 5th period. I am aware of the frustrations with Atlas. Weekly progress reports will allow you to be aware of your grades. IF you are not on probation and still want progress reports, you can get one from me as well. I stress-THIS IS MANDATORY FOR ALL THOSE ON PROBATION. You know who you are because I told everyone your grades today!!!

POSTERS

I still have over 200 posters in my room! I need volunteers to take them around the community to different businesses. We should see them in restaurants, grocery stores, clothing stores, etc. Let me know if you or a parent can help.

Broadway Cheerleading has selected FHS to participate in the 2011 catalogue model search. See me for an application form. The deadline is November 1st. It's open for boys and girls (girls ages 6-25 boys ages 13-25). I hope some of you apply!!! You will have to submit 2 pictures via email (read the application form carefully).

FOOD FAIR ASSIGNMENTS

Next Thursday, October 14, and Friday, October 15, is Food Fair. This is a chance to pocket a little extra money for the cheer program and to keep us out of debt!! Marble Slab Ice Cream is coming out to sell ice cream for cheer. Your job is to assist them however they may need you and to encourage fellow students to come buy a tasty treat!

Come Get Your Posters!!

I still have 300 cheer posters sitting in my room! If you received a business donation for the poster, you MUST take a copy of the poster to that business. It's respectful to the business and is a nice thank you. Please come get as many copies as you want for family, friends, and local businesses. We need to get more posters out around Tower District and to other businesses around FHS. I will not be here Monday or Tuesday, but you can grab them off the floor (just don't disturb my classes).

PIG JERSEYS FOR SALE-Deadline Oct 15th

Pig jerseys are now for sale. The cost is $41. You must pay up front or a jersey will not be ordered (cash or check only). All money & orders are due by Friday, October 15th to Mrs. Champion. The jersey will look exactly like this. You may not add your name or make any other changes. If a parent, guardian, sibling, or friend wants to order one, then they may. All I need to know from you is what size do you want and how many. The sizes are small-2XL. There are no youth sizes. This is purely optional. You can wear this over your uniform on the day of the Pig Rally/Game. You can stop by my room, email, or text me your order. But as I mentioned before, I WILL NOT ORDER YOUR JERSEY WITHOUT FULL PAYMENT BY OCTOBER 15th. If you aren't paid off, you need to take care of your cheer bill first. I will not order any jerseys after Oct 15th, since they wouldn't be ready by the day of the rally/game. Boys are welcome to order as well.

VAR-TOMORROW NIGHT

Varsity-Be at Pardini's at 6:30 and you will be done at 7:00. You will do 1 cheer and the fight song. Wear liners and hair up (either all the way or half) w/bow.

This Friday is Homecoming. All 3 squads will cheer the Varsity game. Be to McLane by 6:30, ready to go.

FUNDRAISER DUE

All money and order forms for the restaurant.com gift cards are due on Monday, September 13th by 1:30 pm. YOU MUST TURN IN ALL ORDERS MONDAY!!! If you haven't paid off, you need to be selling gift cards. Even if you are paid off, you can still sell to help us raise more money. Please go out and sell, sell, sell!! Sidenote-No one has even asked me to buy one yet! NOT GOOD.

FROSH GAME

All frosh team needs to leave class at 2:30 to change into your uniform and be on the field ready to cheer by 3 pm. Hair needs to be in a high ponytail with your bow. Wear your jersey to school.

Sweatshirts

If you ordered a sweatshirt, they are ready. IF YOU ARE PAID OFF, you can come by my room starting tomorrow to pick up your sweatshirt. Do not come during class. I will be in my room before school and during lunch.

New FHS Item

We are going to start selling these towels in a few weeks. They are hand-sized towels (not beach towels). The cost is $10. This is to put extra money in the cheer account, not to pay off uniforms. You should tell family, friends, teachers, etc. They are great to swing around at football games or to hang in your room. If you want to see one, come see me.

1. As of right now, competition tryouts are cancelled. THere needs to be more interest in order to have a team.

3. Sweats are in. If you are paid off, you may come by before school or during lunch to get them.

Competition Tryouts

There is a mandatory meeting for anyone interested in trying out for competition cheer this Tuesday at 6 pm in my room. Tryouts are Thursday at 6 pm in the wrestling room. All squads are able to try out.

CHEER PICS

This year's cheer pictures are Saturday, October 9th @ Woodward Park at 10:00 am. Be there by 9:45 am...same place as always. I will distribute pic order forms the week prior to pics. If you aren't paid off, YOU MAY NOT BE IN THE YEARBOOK PHOTO! I pushed pics back a month than normal so people could get their uniforms paid off. Pay off ASAP. There will be no exceptions.

NEXT FUNDRAISER

We will begin the next fundraiser on Tuesday, Sept 7th. All cheerleaders need to be in my room at the beginning of lunch. Bring your lunch to my room. A representative is coming from Phoenix to explain the fundraiser to you guys, so you must be there Tuesday. Those of you who still owe a significant amount of money need to take full advantage of this fundraiser. There are only a few fundraisers left to pay off your uniform.

Last Week of Summer Practice

Practice this week is Tues, Weds, Thurs 9-12. This is it before school starts!! I will be there Tuesday to collect payments. Friday by noon is the last chance to pay off your uniform in order to wear it on the first day of school. No exceptions will be made. I will be on campus Thurs & Fri for teacher meetings if you have any questions. *REMINDER FOR VARSITY* Even if you have your uniform from last year, you may not wear it until this year's bill is paid in full.

Good job today, Frosh & JV. You did wonderful during day 1 of camp. It was beyond hot in there but no one gave up! I was super-impressed with how quickly you learned those stunts. I also thought it was wonderful how supportive you were of each other during tumbling and stunting. I love to hear you cheer each other on and watch you high-five your group when you master a skill...GREAT TEAMWORK! I cannot wait to see the routine you learned.

I will distribute tickets after camp so you can start selling. Tickets are a $5 donation (or more if they'd like).


Attendance is mandatory. We will also have sign-ups for supplies (hose, buckets, towels, signs, etc.).

Pre-Camp Reminders

You MUST turn in all physical paperwork prior to camp or you may not go. You will still be responsible for the camp fee. I will be at FHS on Tuesday, as usual, in my room so you can turn in physicals or payments. School starts in less than a month, so you need to keep paying!

Frosh/JV-Stop by my room tomorrow to get camp paperwork

VAR-Don't forget you still have evening practices and a mandatory parent/guardian meeting Thursday at 7 pm in my room. I will also pass out uniforms on Tuesday when I'm at school. If you are in summer school, come by during your break. Uniforms not paid for will be returned the last day of camp to Mrs. Champion.

Comp. Requirements

Comp. parent meeting & try out dates will be at the end of August (after school starts). The first competition is in November and is the Regional Qualifier. Tryouts will be much more difficult than cheer tryouts. Being on Varsity does not guarantee a spot on the comp. team. Here are a few (not all) of the skills you'll need to showcase during tryouts:

1. Sharp, high, clean jumps (pike, toe touch, hurdler, & herkie)
2. Be able to base/back spot/fly straight to full, toe touch basket, show & go, lib/heel stretch/arabesque, and cradle (full down).
3. TONS of facials the entire time
4. High kicks
5. Be able to walk to each formation with your arms GLUED to your side


If you are missing any of these skills, talk to your coach about working on them ASAP!

Congratulations to Tesla (JV) for being the first person to pay off their entire cheer bill!! She will receive a prize next week. There are prizes available for the next 3 people who pay their entire bill :)

ATTENTION...

Camp is in 2 weeks!!! Varsity-Don't forget your extra practices begin this week. You MUST be at every prac to be in the camp routine. I will be at school tomorrow from 10-11 to collect payments, distribute more entertainment books, and pass out camp clothes & backpacks to those who did not receive theirs last week. School is one month away. You must pay off your ENTIRE bill to wear your uniform on the 1st day. Don't forget about this Saturday's yard sale. I have several teachers bringing me items for us to sale. If you come pick these up from my room, you may sell the items and keep that money for your uniform. PAY OFF THAT UNIFORM!!!

Confusion

I've had a few girls ask me if there is a car wash this Saturday, July 10th. There is NOT a cheer car wash this weekend. The next fundraiser is the yard sale on Saturday, July 17th. Please make sure to bring a lot of items to ensure it's success. We cannot make a lot of money if you don't bring items. Several teachers have donated items to sell. Whoever picks these items up from my room can sell them to make money. The yard sale is 7 am-12 pm. I will put an ad in The Fresno Bee next week and make sure to tell all your family, friends, & neighbors. Repeat-NO CAR WASH FOR CHEER THIS SAT. We will have a car wash soon.

Next Payment is Due!

I will be at prac. on Tuesday, July 6th from 10:15-11:00 to collect physicals and the next payment. School is only 6 weeks away, so make sure to keep making payments so you can wear your uniform on the 1st day and cheer for the first football game. Keep selling those entertainment books and collect items to sell at the yard sale!

Save the Date-Yard Sale

We will hold a yard sale on Saturday, July 17th in front of FHS. It will be from 7am-12 pm. I will be there selling stuff too! Put the date on your calendar. Tell friends, family, neighbors, etc to donate any used items (furniture, clothes, books, dvds, cds, kids' toys, appliances, etc) so you have more to sell. I will post the yard sale in the Fresno Bee a week prior. In order to have a successful yard sale, we need a lot of participation!! Gather as much as you can. You are in charge of your own area (bring a blanket or something to lay things out on) and in charge of your own money. Bring change in case your 1st customer buys something for $1 but only has a $5 bill! Any money you make at the yard sale can go purely toward your uniform. Make signs so we can post them on the light posts a few days beforehand. Let me know if you have questions.

MAKE A PAYMENT ASAP

July 1st is next week which means the next payment is due. Many people are not making payments nor fundraising. Your entire bill needs to be paid by August 13th. As of right now these are the available fundraisers:

These practices are mandatory for everyone on Varsity. It is to prepare for camp and for when school starts. You must attend every single practice. If you miss one practice, you will not be in the camp routine.

Attention All Squad Members

During the first practice all squad members need to come by practice if you are in summer school. Poms (Varsity) and shoes will be distributed on tuesday's practice which is from 9-11. MAKE SURE TO STOP BY DURING YOUR BREAK.

Updates/Reminders

1. The first practice is this Tuesday from 9-11 am. Meet by the wrestling room. Hair must be up (including bangs), wear workout clothes, and cheer/tennis shoes. Bring water. Even if you aren't in summer school, you have to be in dress code to be on campus. Cover yourself up to get on campus; when you get to the wrestling room you may wear your tank tops and shorter shorts. They will NOT allow you on campus if you are out of dress code and you will receive a 1/3 of a strike for being late or missing practice.

2. 2nd payments are due NOW!

3. The 2010-2011 entertainment books are in! If you want to sell the books, you must pick a sample up from me. You sell each book for $20 and make $8. Bring me money for the books and I'll immediately give you however many books you've sold. Call or email if you have ?'s.
