FROSH/JV CAMP

Good job today, Frosh & JV. You did wonderful during day 1 of camp. It was beyond hot in there but no one gave up! I was super-impressed with how quickly you learned those stunts. I also thought it was wonderful how supportive you were of each other during tumbling and stunting. I love to hear you cheer each other on and watch you high-five your group when you master a skill...GREAT TEAMWORK! I cannot wait to see the routine you learned.

Car Wash-August 7th

Saturday, August 7th FHS Cheer Car Wash

Location: TBA

Hours: 10-4 Varsity works 10-1 Frosh/JV works 1-4

I will distribute tickets after camp so you can start selling. Tickets are a $5 donation (or more if they'd like).


Attendance is mandatory. We will also have sign-ups for supplies (hose, buckets, towels, signs, etc.).

Pre-Camp Reminders

You MUST turn in all physical paperwork prior to camp or you may not go. You will still be responsible for the camp fee. I will be at FHS on Tuesday, as usual, in my room so you can turn in physicals or payments. School starts in less than a month, so you need to keep paying!

Frosh/JV-Stop by my room tomorrow to get camp paperwork

VAR-Don't forget you still have evening practices and a mandatory parent/guardian meeting Thursday at 7 pm in my room. I will also pass out uniforms on Tuesday when I'm at school. If you are in summer school, come by during your break. Uniforms not paid for will be returned the last day of camp to Mrs. Champion.

Comp. Requirements

Comp. parent meeting & try out dates will be at the end of August (after school starts). The first competition is in November and is the Regional Qualifier. Tryouts will be much more difficult than cheer tryouts. Being on Varsity does not guarantee a spot on the comp. team. Here are a few (not all) of the skills you'll need to showcase during tryouts:

1. Sharp, high, clean jumps (pike, toe touch, hurdler, & herkie)
2. Be able to base/back spot/fly straight to full, toe touch basket, show & go, lib/heel stretch/arabesque, and cradle (full down).
3. TONS of facials the entire time
4. High kicks
5. Be able to walk to each formation with your arms GLUED to your side


If you are missing any of these skills, talk to your coach about working on them ASAP!

Congratulations to Tesla (JV) for being the first person to pay off their entire cheer bill!! She will receive a prize next week. There are prizes available for the next 3 people who pay their entire bill :)

ATTENTION...

Camp is in 2 weeks!!! Varsity-Don't forget your extra practices begin this week. You MUST be at every prac to be in the camp routine. I will be at school tomorrow from 10-11 to collect payments, distribute more entertainment books, and pass out camp clothes & backpacks to those who did not receive theirs last week. School is one month away. You must pay off your ENTIRE bill to wear your uniform on the 1st day. Don't forget about this Saturday's yard sale. I have several teachers bringing me items for us to sale. If you come pick these up from my room, you may sell the items and keep that money for your uniform. PAY OFF THAT UNIFORM!!!

Confusion

I've had a few girls ask me if there is a car wash this Saturday, July 10th. There is NOT a cheer car wash this weekend. The next fundraiser is the yard sale on Saturday, July 17th. Please make sure to bring a lot of items to ensure it's success. We cannot make a lot of money if you don't bring items. Several teachers have donated items to sell. Whoever picks these items up from my room can sell them to make money. The yard sale is 7 am-12 pm. I will put an ad in The Fresno Bee next week and make sure to tell all your family, friends, & neighbors. Repeat-NO CAR WASH FOR CHEER THIS SAT. We will have a car wash soon.
